Ana Loureiro is an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in Vienna. She studied Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto University and attended the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna during her graduation semester.
Since an extensive period of time, Loureiro’s artistic practice focuses on the analysis of the relationship between different type of spaces and the memories of their interveners. In the meanwhile, the artist started to approach in her artworks subjects related to the complexity of communication and consequently presents in her exhibitions the creation of hybrid systems combining an extensive range of communication typologies, with a particular emphasis on visual communication.
In 2021, her project “Substratum of memories” was granted with a State scholarship for Fine Arts by BMKÖS. In 2023, was selected by Emerge association jury to integrate the Portuguese emerging artists 2023 publication (PEA2023).
From January to April 2024, participated as an artist-in-residence in the studios abroad programme of BMKÖS and in cooperation with Helsinki International Artist Programme.
Loureiro is also a member of Vienna’s Künstlerhaus and the first group of artworks of her series “Tell me how was your day?” is part of Vienna Museum collection. Her projects have been presented in several individual and collective exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Belgium, Italy and Portugal.
